It's a Fairy Nice Day!

I was tickled to death to snag the free download that Inky Impressions was offering yesterday! Anytime I hear the word FREE I'm on it like a flash! Anyways, I saw great things for this little cutie and wasted no time printing her out!

I decided to use this image as part of my entry for this week's Papertake Weekly challenge which happens to be a very nifty sketch. I love sketches that are very basic or ones that are full of squarish shapes. This card actually turned out far better then I ever imagined it would. I colored the image using a mix of my Prismacolor, BIC and Copic markers. My inspiration for this color combo actually came from the new Dark Olive Green Prismacolor marker I picked up yesterday. Ever have one of those moments when you find a marker color and you are like "YES! This is what I've been waiting for!"? Well that was me yesterday! LOL! I used the color on the main leaves. It was just such a rich green. I based all the other color tones off it using dark earthy shades. My fairy had to have striped stockings! The patterned paper was chosen because it's design matched the image very well. I added some Stickles to the fairy's skirt (using Diamond) and her tiny wings (using Stardust) because she needed to sparkle. I love that her wings are just sooo tiny!

I added this second picture because you can the richness of the colors a lot better. They aren't dulled like they look in the first picture. I added a bit of piercing to the rust layer because I didn't like the blank edges. And I love the little green strips. I've never used that on a card before, but it's very cute! A pain to cut, but it was worth it! I love the look! I did have to position everything so that my hole puncher could reach it! LOL! I really like the way the clothespin pops. I didn't add that shadowing--it was already there in the image.

All in all I just think this card is very cute. I thought about adding a sentiment somewhere, but I think I'll just put that inside the card. I like the blank brown space.
